It appears that macs have good resale value. If I buy a MBP 13 i5 4g/320gb now and want to sell it in one year, how much can I realistically expect in return at that time, assuming that I use it couple of hours every day and keep it in good working condition.

Honestly, it depends on where you live and what the market is there. I'd check your local craigslist (or equivalent) and ebay to see what similar models go for after about a year.

mostly the usual stuff like web browsing, youtube, photos editing, etc.

I have a 4 year old dell laptop now that has been pretty good to me for the most part but I am ready for a change.

If you only want it for a year, I would hold off to save for what you actually need.

IMO I would say any Mac from purchase will see you well for 3-5 years if it does what you need at time of purchase.

Hope that helps:)

I believe the OP is asking a general question about the resale value of MBPs, which is permitted. The OP doesn't yet own the MBP in question, so they're not asking for a price to sell it.

True enough. I think I just got blindsided by the completely unrelated response.
