Question about SATA II problems and older Macbooks

Just after ordering a new hard drive for my Macbook (Western Digital/WD3200BEVT/320GB/SATA 3.0GB/s) I read about people having problem with SATA II hard drives and the EFI 1.7 firmware update causing the HDD not to be recognized my SL. My question is - does this problem affect all Macbooks or is this problem limited to the newer Unibody Macbooks? My Macbook is an older 2007 model - is it possible that I might run into the same problems?
