Question about saving App data

Hey guys.

A family member asked me about the upgrading to iPhone 4 and keeping their Lose It data. I didn't have much to offer other than the iPhone 4 will use your backed up data from iTunes, but considering it being completely new, I thought I'd ask.

So, is there a way to back up data from an app and reload onto another phone?
