question about selling a dead 3G

My iphone made it into the pool this summer and is completely dead. If I were to sell it, what issues are there with my personal info being able to be recovered. Since it will not power up, I can't wipe it clean, but would somebody with more technical abilities be able to?

It is possible but I don't think that anyone that would pay very much for a dead iPhone.

I guess that it is possible to get info off the solid state memory as long as the chip didn't fry in the plunge.
