I have a Macbook Pro 2.4 with 2gb of ram and the 8600 nvidia card w/256mb. It's a 17", and I really want something like a Macbook, since I just got a Mac Pro. It has a year left of Applecare as well. How much should I be asking on Craigslist for this? I want the money to at LEAST cover the cost of a decent Macbook.

Try the market place here first. And I'd say depending on condition maybe even $2000.

I would love to sell it on the marketplace, but it won't let me post. I guess I could break it down here?

Specifications:
17" MATTE screen (better for color correction)
2.4ghz Core 2 Duo Processor
2gb of RAM
160gb Harddrive
Nvidia GeForce 8600GT graphics w/256mb video memory
Superdrive
Leopard OSX (included on extra disk that I purchased and am throwing in)

I am an editor that recently purchased a full desktop Mac to replace this blazing portable machine. I have treated it exceptionally well and, it has no scratches, dead pixels, or any other problems. I am throwing in the following extras:
- Griffin Elevator (40 dollar laptop stand)
- Incase Neoprene Sleeve (black, 25 dollar soft case)
- Applecare Warranty with one year remaining on plan (valued at over 250 dollars!)

I posted the same thing on my local (santa barbara) craigslist. I would really like to switch to a Macbook asap so yeah.

Update:

I lowered the price to 1850 after checking the apple refurb store's price (2100). Figured I would make it an even better deal because I thought the store was charging 2300 for it prior.

i have the same laptop as you (i think?). mine has the hi-res screen.

seems like the value of the 17" macs never hold strong. i paid over 3 g'z for this baby and after looking at some prices on them, i'd say you would be lucky as hell to get 1850 for it.

good luck!
