OK, I have a quick question for people that know more about the finer details of an OS:

I am just downloading iTunes 7.3.2 at a total of 34 MB. Now when I look at the size of iTunes it is around 24 MB. After I have install it have jumped to over 85 MB. Where has the rest come from?

Also sometimes an update can be, say 10 MB but the actual file size shrinks! I imagine this is because the installer removes, say 15 MB of code and replaces it with the 10 MB.

Would this is a correct (if rather Layman's terms) assumption?

The files on the server are compressed archives. When you install them, they have to be decompressed.
