Question about student discount Apple Online Store

I know you can click on education and the school of choice but do you have to show any proof when you check out? Or do you show proof after you pay?

I've never ordered anything online with a student discount (only bought stuff at the apple store with the student discount).

Also I'd just go to the apple store but I want to order it online as I want the 2.93GHz model of the 17" with a matte display and the stores do not carry this model.

You show no proof online. Random audits happen, and if you don't qualify the order is cancelled.

They usually never check, which is why the store discount is higher than the online one (cuz in the store you show proof), but since that isnt an option then its normal

The discount online looks the same as the apple store to me. $2599 for the base model with education discount for the $2799 17" unibody mbp.
