Hi everyone,

I found a suspicious folder on my Mac named `${DaemonNameOrIdentifierHere}` in `/private/var/folders`.
Can anyone help what this folder might be for?

Thanks!

Version of macOS? Your model of Mac and release year? What software have you installed recently? Without this info, impossible to help or suggest.

Hi,

Mac mini M1(2020)
Sonoma 14.6.1
I don't know what the last app was..

I would like to know what this folder could be. Is it unusual or not, and what is it usually associated with?
(And what is this name?)

It is unusual in that it looks like a script may have had an undefined environment variable when creating the directory. Are there file or directories inside? If so, list the contents here. Curious to see if these provide a clue to which script or software created the directory.

Quick Google turned up people reporting that folder in 2021, so might be some old bug in OS or app that created it back in the day.

Unfortunately did not see anyone track it down to a specific program.

But, ditto, harmless, ignore or delete.

I first searched on Google but didn’t find anything about it.

If it's harmless, I don't care, it's just that its name is weird, let's admit.
