II'm about to buy a Fitbit flex. I don't have a smartphone so in order to use it I will need to sync to my macbook air. Does anyone know if I will NEED to use the USB dongle thats included or will my fitbit synch via my macbook airs blutooth? Thanks.

My wife is using Flex with her MB Air and at least we have not been able to get the sync work without the dongle. On the other hand if you don't mind having a USB slot to be reserved all the time, the dongle is very small and can be attached constantly.

Interesting. I was chatting with apple support and they told me I didn't need the dongle. They even repeated it to me.

Yep, you need the dongle for sure. But no worries, it comes with that. I used to have the app on my iPhone, but it just killed the battery, so I now just use it with my rMBP.
