Question about the 2011 MBP 15" i5 Core

I was at the local Best Buy earlier this week and they had one of these on sale, I asked the guy and he said it's on sale because Apple discontinued them.
I was just wondering if anyone happens to know why this model was discontinued, were there issues or was it just due to poor sales for this particular model.

It has a slower processor, and was discontinued because they did an upgrade to the Macbook Pros. The 15" now sport quad core i7s starting at 2.0 ghz-2.3ghz.
