How quiet is it? I need my 1,1 Pro to be really quiet, since I do audio recording and the mics are within a few feet of the computer. (Small apartment room.) Has anybody gotten one yet that can say definitely? TIA

I had the '08 MP with a geforce 8800GT and I got the new '10 with a 5770 and it is noticeably louder. I'd put it in the range of around 6-8dB louder (I never heard the '08 unless I really taxing the GPU but I hear the '10 all the time) it's not massively loud but I'll get out my decibel meter for you and let you know in a little bit.

According to some reports the GT120 from the Mac Pro 2009 is a lot quieter than the 5770 or 5870 cards.

Quiet is a relative term. I have a 2008 Mac Pro and although I don't think it is loud, it is not silent. I just replaced the ATI 2600xt with a 5770. IMHO the 5770 doesn't make any more noise than 2600xt.

I just replaced my 8800 with the 5770. I have not noticed any difference in noise.

Ok just measured the noise of the computer. It came in at 40-44dB(A), which is around 6dB above background noise. So if you're 1 meter or more away from the computer it won't really pose that much of a problem

Thanks to all. I suspect this '06 1,1 Pro still has some good use before needing to be upgraded and/or replaced.
