Is it possible to have the "AM" and "PM" to appear in uppercase instead of lowercase?

I saw it in uppercase on a screenshot a user posted on this forum but can't find a way to do it myself.

Thanks!

One solution is to use 24-hour time format and then the am/pm (AM/PM) isn't displayed at all.

Jailbreak. The only solution.

Mine is uppercase running stock 7.06 not jail broken. I would like lowercase better. Maybe we should trade? I'll send you mine, here: AM PM

He asked for uppercase instead of lowercase. Your answer is not a solution....it actually doesn't even address the OP's question.

Actually it is a solution if OP is sufficiently put off by the lower case AM and PM and can't change it. It depends on how repulsive OP finds the lower case letters.

:p;)

Seems like either jailbreak or perhaps try changing some regional settings (like US vs UK or maybe even AU or Canada).

Great, now I feel weird. I'm from New Zealand, but I see no reason why this should be a regional issue.
Based on some definition that Apple is using, the regional settings for AU/NZ might specify to use "am" and "pm", while in US they are specified to be "AM" and "PM". As to why those kinds of differences might exist and why Apple chose to use these kinds of definitions, I guess it's anyone's guess.

This is defined by the Unicode CLDR, the standard which modern operating systems and programming languages use to get these settings.

The default for English-speaking locales (en) is AM/PM, but Great Britain (en_GB) specifically overrides the dayPeriod wide formats to be am/pm.

No reason is given (it's just a database) but it's probably to avoid confusion with the abbreviations for Assembly Member and Prime Minister.

Confirmed:
It is a regional thing.

I changed my settings from UK to US too and the clock updated from "am" to "AM".
Not sure why Apple decided to do this inconsistency but I prefer how it looks in uppercase IMHO.

Not a big deal though, but it's good to know!
Thanks everyone!

I'm curious now if any other countries besides the US has uppercase.

So far it looks like NZ and Mexico are lowercase....
