Not finding an answer online that definitively answers this for me. Will Thread do anything to speed up responses from exiting Bluetooth devices? One example is a rough 4 year old Schlage Sense lock that works via Bluetooth (the lock connects to Homekit w/out a hub). Connection is great but it’s slow to respond (3 to 5 seconds). Would Thread help speed that connection up? If yes, will a manufacturer updated be needed or is that something built into thread? Thank you.

From the way I understand it, after reading tons of articles and watching tons of videos, the device requires a Thread radio (hardware specific) to benefit from Thread speeds and reliability. Thread is more akin to Zigbee. Bluetooth will continue to work as it always did, unfortunately. Actually, the Matter standard isn’t even supporting BT as a wireless protocol after it’s connected to the smart home. In other words, the BT radio on newer Matter over thread and Wi-Fi devices will only be used for initial connection. I highly doubt your older door lock has a built in Thread radio but what do I know. Hope I’m wrong.
