A friend of mine purchased a series 5 Apple watch recently off of eBay. The watch showed up new and all was good and he decided to purchase the monthly applecare for it. He's decided he no longer wants the model but seeing how he purchased it off of eBay he's agreed to sell it to me. Can he cancel his AppleCare (he says he just added it on Saturday) and will I be able to then add it? Its the Ceramic model and I'd rather have the AppleCare for it if I can still add it after he cancels.

Anyone with any experience in this arena? Thanks!

If it’s a brand new S5 watch I think you can. Just contact apple support.

I was told, if you pay AppleCare+ outright, it follows the watch. If you pay monthly (I have heard conflicting stories) it either needs to be transferred, or can not be transferred.

I sold my S4 watch with 1 year remaining Applecare+ to my buddy.

Apple Support website is pretty clear. Paid-in-full transfers, paid-monthly does not.

You can not transfer a monthly billing plan. Tried it multiple times and never could. Only paid in full plans...
