I hear lots of good things about this program...i also hear it is lightweight on the system but I was wondering if it's a pain to completely get off your system? im aware of the click and drag to the trash but does it keep lots of little hidden files on your system?

This problem isn't just specific to Transmission. Also, the extra files left behind are usually only in the kilobytes size-wise. If you really want to delete all the files though, there's AppZapper. There's also a bunch of other app deleters, some of which are free. Just do a Google search and you'll find a bunch of them.
