is it possible getting an unlocked iphone 5 in the usa? if so, from what carrier?
 
There is a difference between factory unlocked and without contract. You can always purchase an iPhone 5 at full retail price (that is, $649) from a standard carrier (like AT&T or Verizon), without contract.
