I want to buy os 10.3.9 on DVD and install it on my Imac g4 800 mhz computer which currently has 10.1.4

What I would like to know is, would I have the option of an upgrade install so that it will keep all my user data and just upgrade the OS?

Second I know the drive in the imac g4 800 mhz can burn cds, but can it also read DVDs or would I have to get the CD version of 10.3?

All 800 MHz G4s can read DVDs out of the box. Two of the three 800 MHz models released can write to them too :)

You should buy and install Tiger 10.4 instead. There is very little difference between how these two OS versions will run on that iMac. I figure go for the lastest and greatest. Unless you're getting 10.3.9 for like $1.

Thanks for the info, I just found the specs page myself. that is good, so my next question is, does 10.3 have an upgrade install option that will work with os 10.1.4 or 10.1.5?
