I want to use my Macbook Pro as a desktop with external display. What hardware and materials do I need to set this up?

Depends on what sort of connector the monitor has. You will need one of the following adaptors:

mini-display port to HDMI http://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/HFQL2VC/A/moshi-mini-displayport-to-hdmi-adapter-4k
mini-display port to VGA http://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MB572Z/B/mini-displayport-to-vga-adapter
mini-display port to DVI http://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MB570LL/B/mini-displayport-to-dvi-adapter

Plus either a VGA, HDMI or DVI cable.

Thank you :)

What about keyboard and a mouse?

There are a few TV models that have DisplayPort, in this case you need the cable that fits. This should be a bit more common on monitors.

For a 4K display with HDMI 2.0 ports, if your Mac has DP 1.2, you need the proper active converter for 4K@60Hz.
