Guessing I wold need to switch off all my notifications as guessing that would cost alot to recieve them?

Guessing using Siri wouldn't help cost wise either...?

You should be able to use your iPhone 4S in the US, but you'll probably need to enable international roaming by contacting your network. They might want you to pay a deposit before you go.

International data roaming costs are very high. You might be better off obtaining a T-Mobile USA or AT&T SIM if your iPhone is unlocked.

Stop into any AT&T store and sign up for a no contract plan. Cancel it after one month. Should cost you $30
