I have a 3G iPhone and I have put my 2G iPhone in the closet.

My girlfriend has a 3G iPhone which broke completely this weekend and she wants to use my 2G (with her sim card) until the new phone comes out

Is that allowed? Could we go to the Apple Store and do that? I figured since we both have iPhone contracts, there is no illegal phone being used, etc....that maybe we could?

I'm pretty sure the steps are:

1) Put her SIM card in the original iPhone.

2) Bake some cookies

3) Enjoy cookies

And...that's about it. The downside is that she'll still be paying the $30/month data charge when that phone only requires the $20 version, but given that it's so little time I'd just forget about it and eat the $10 difference.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you don't need to check with anyone to do this.

Thanks. I don't think she cares too much as she will be upgrading shortly.

I just wanted to make sure Steve Jobs wasn't going to be knocking on my door quizzing on me on the legality of what we did

I'm pretty sure if she makes cookies for SJ, he'll forgive.
