Question about Western Digital Live 2TB Usb 3

I have a Western Digital Live 2TB Usb 3 drive, but i think the circuit inside the disc broke down. It randomly disconnects from the Mac.
Is it possible to strip it down and put the disc on an external USB 2 enclosure?
