Did your 12 inch PowerBook ship with a 45W power adapter or a 65W one? Do you have the latest (1.5GHz) model?

I purchased a spare power adapter at the weekend... when I got it home I realised that my existing one was 45W and the new one is 65W. I called Apple to check if I'd bought the right thing and they said they only sell the 65W as a spare and that all "new" PowerBooks should come with 65W. Well my PB is the latest revision and apparently was only built in May 2005.

I'm just curious to know if other people also have the 45W one, or was I originally supplied with an iBook adapter by mistake?

I purchased my PB in June of last year. I just checked the power supply and it, too, is 45W. Maybe that helps, I don't know.

Thanks for the replies.

I just found the answer I needed on the Tech Specs page. Doh!! (why didn't i think of looking there before?)

The 12 inch does indeed ship with a 45W adapter as standard.

hm. i have a 15" and my gf has a 12". is it bad to switch the power supplies?

Well now I know for sure that you can use the 65W one with ANY PowerBook.
I'm not sure you should use the 45W one with the 15 inch PB though.

Wow, I'm glad someone brought this up. I had no idea the power adapters were different. I have a 12" PB and a 17" PB and I swap adapters all the time. I guess I won't be doing that anymore!

I have tried an iBook G3 power adapter (45W I think) with a 1.67GHz 15" Powerbook and have had no problems for the last 3 months or so.

I am looking at the power adapter that shipped with my REV A, 15 in, 1.25 GHZ and it is a 45w. This model came out two years ago, so at one point it was safe to use the 45w adapter for the 15inchers.

My guess is that it will just charge the battery slower than the 65W supplly would.
