Updated today to take advantage of the dual core chip. Can someone who has the equipment tell me if it plays 720p+ mkv's well?

Yeah, I know, probably a little soon to be asking this, but still, I'm interested. May actually tempt me to upgrade my 4.

I tested a few 720p movies using the previous version of AVPlayer and they all ran smoothly. The real test will be to see if with this update I can finally play my 1080p mkvs! I will test this tonight and let you know since I don't have a 1080p on my phone to try it at this time...

That's good. I find 4 the struggles a with a typical 1.1gb 720p mkv. Works fine with the same mkv transcoded to mp4/8-900mb, with little discernible quality difference on the small screen, but I'd rather skip the transcoding and play the same files I play on my iPad 2.

Well no luck with the 1080p movies :( Tried 3 and they all failed to play smoothly. I see little to no improvement from the previous version. But all in all 720p MKV from 2 to 4 GB play perfectly, so I guess I will settle with that. Hopefully a new update in the future makes better use of the 2 cores.
