I'll be brief. I have a friend on Rogers who would like to buy my old 3Gs which is locked by Telus. How would one go about getting it unlocked? Would Telus have to do it or Rogers? And how much does it cost?

I don't think the SIM matters that much. When I called for an unlock, I only needed to confirm the IMEI number of the iPhone.

I think the charges are $50.

Just a caution, I'm not entirely sure the data portion of a Telus 3GS will work on a Rogers network. Have you looked into it?

I put a Rogers 3GS on Telus once and talk/text worked. I don't think it accepted data though. Just a consideration.

That doesn't really make sense to me, but thanks for the warning. There shouldn't be so many things to worry about to just switch a phone from one carrier to another.

That's just what they want you to think ;)

Not all 3GS phones have all the hardware for all the networks.
