So I am planning to get an iPad Mini. While, all of my and my wife's previous iOS devices have been black, this time around the white iPad mini is looking like a real contender.

I may change my mind once I see the minis in person, but right now I am more drawn to the silver back of the white models over the slate back of the black models. The problem is that I typically prefer a black bezel around my screen (all of my previous iOS devices have been the black model). The black bezel to me seems a bit more upscale (like an HDTV) and seems to frame the content better and help the colors pop more. The perfect combo for me would be if they offered a Black and Silver model, but since that isn't happening, I have a choice to make.

So do any of you white iPad owners regret getting white for ay reason? Would you change color if you had the choice, or are you now switching to black models for future purchases?

I have two iPads both different colors. I like white better and i'll buy another white iPad when i'm ready.

Have a 4th gen coming to replace a 3rd gen (yeah, I'm kooky...), went with white a second time (our first gen was black). There's something I really dig about a white iPad. Maybe it's the visual differentiation vs. other tablets, maybe it's because it gives me a "device of the future" vibe, don't know, it's purely subjective as I don't think there's any objective measure that makes it "better" (in fact, the contrast difference vs. a black bezel might make it worse, though that's had zero impact on me).

I got the white 4S and on launch day got the white iPad 3 gen.

No regrets. Love white and will continue to do so.

Boo to all of you! I was hoping you would all tell me that you like the white ok, but that you would choose black next time for some reason or another. ;)

Oh well, I guess this is going to come down to me seeing them in person then and having to make a decision. I will say though that the white minis do give off an iPod (4th gen) vibe that is pretty cool. It's weird because somehow the white iPod touches never gave me this vibe, not sure why.

My wife's is white and mine is black, I like the black bezel better for watching movies (blends in better) but hers doesn't seem to show fingerprints as much on the bezel. Otherwise, both look nice.

I got the white 3rd gen just because I had never had a white iOS product before. I do a ton of movie watching and I found the experience no less enjoyable on the white one. I would buy white again.

This is a good consideration. I'll keep this in mind.

I was really torn over this when choosing my iPad 3. I thought white looked beautiful but black might be better for movies or something. Honestly once I had it in my hands I had absolutely no regrets. The white looks beautiful and classy and sets it apart from all the other tablets, most of which are black. That said, unlike you, I like the slate back over the silver back. My ideal combination would be white front and slate black. Haha! Still, I'm going white for the Mini too.

White is an awful choice if you're buying it for movie/tv watching. If you're getting it for ebooks and web browsing, it works fine. Personally I despise how on the white iPads you see the white border, then a thin border of black, and then the contents of the screen. Black also absorbs light better.

Buy one of each, disassemble, combine opposite fronts/rears: keep the White + Slate for yourself, sell the incredibly limited edition Black + Silver at a profit :D

Haha, I'm not that handy. I can live with it. I'm thinking of getting a sticker boy matte black skin for the back :) (assuming one is released for the mini)

Well, yeah, I'd probably wind up with a white/slate, black/silver, extra parts and two nonfunctional iPads :D

As long as I can think, for me Apple was "white" (or white with colors or silver for Pro products). Still, for some reason my very first Apple product, an iPod Video was black. I loved the glassy black look back than (don't like the mat black of the iPod classic). Then, my first iMac was white and I loved it. I bought it just after the new silver iMac with the black bezel came out...I really hated that look, it just wasn't "Apple-like" in my point of view. Just bought a than-new iMac a couple of months ago and although I'v gotten used to the black bezel (I still prefer that my MBA doesn't have one) I miss my white iMac,
Funny enough, I went black with the iPhone 4.

I ordered a white iPad, although I was really torn between black and white. My hubby has a white iPad2 and I really like the look of it, but I know that black enriches contrast and is better with the black bars while watching movies. In the end I choose white over black because first, I just preferred it (although everybody seems to go white with the iPad mini) and because I'v read that it's easier on the eyes when reading for a long time - and that's what the iPad mini is going to be for me most of the time: an iReader.

Okay so here's the plan, you buy the white one, I'll buy the black one, then we just take them apart and switch backs :)

EDIT: DT beat me to the punch~

I started with a black iPad and black iPhone 4. I then went with a white iPad 2, 4S, and white iPad 3, and now iPhone 5.

I ordered my iPad 4 and Mini when they went on sale - white for both.

The white, in my opinion, looks very clean and classy. Black, to me, looks more generic.
