The X models are reduced $100 with the into of the 11s. Is it "customary" for them to be further reduced in the next few months?

No. Not through Apple. Might find sales at third party retailers though
 
Thank you Waterman. Any differing ideas out there? We had been planning on getting a brace of the Xs, but for $100, it looks like we'll go Pro.
