I have an eero mesh system running off a provider modem.
separate passwords.
Just before Amazon acquired Eero I had a third homepod mini connected to the eero network.
It ran fine until just after eero was bought by amazon. One day it lost connection.
I wiped it several time to connect as a new device and it fails to connect. It leaves a message "this homepod failed to connect to ["?" network]( sic)."

I get the feeling that eero is limiting/cutting the number of devices on its network.
Both Apple and Eero shrug and blame the other.

The homepod DOES connect to the modem, but my devices are all on the eero network.
I don't want to have to switch networks in order to use a sole homepod.
what's going on here?

Not sure but not what you think is happening. My HomePod happily lives on my Eero network.

Thanks for the reply.
This one worked on the eero network for some months.
Now it fails to connect.
I also have a paired set of minis and 2 pairs of OG homepods on the eero network.

I “upgraded” from the eero Pro to eero Pro 6 and it’s been terrible ever since. The system vomits all over itself when I add devices. I currently have about 80 and it’s well below the max amount of devices allowable over four Pro 6 routers. My ATV 4K with Wi-Fi 6 and my Wi-Fi 6 iPhone Pro 13 for some reason get awful Wi-Fi connection speeds. The worst of all my devices which makes no sense. There’s a lot more to my frustrations but I’ll keep it short. This has been going on for a year and numerous contacts made to support without a solution. I’m looking into other options now. Only thing that intrigues me about the eero is that it’s Thread enabled but useless if it sucks as a router.

I have quite a bit invested in the homekit system only to have the eero 4 unit router system prove unreliable after acquisition by Amazon.
The phillips hue kit has pretty much kicked the bucket, as have several wemo smart plugs.
I too, will be looking for an alternative router kit.
It seems to be a homekit/eero joint issue as the non-homekit enabled smart plugs have been much more reliable.

Ended up getting rid of my eero due to unreliable speeds and got an AMPLIFI alien and it’s been great with my HomeKit devices.

My Hue stuff has been ok but definitely true about the Wemo plugs. Those things drop for no apparent reason and stay off until I factory reset. Same for Logitech Circle 2’s.

I'm getting the opposite, sort of. My WeMo light switch is the one and only HomeKit item that has 100% reliability. ALL of my iHome smart plugs occasionally require the disconnect-wait-reconnect dance. And my supposedly HomeKit compatible Rachio3 irrigation controller isn't compatible at all. Six eeroPro's (not eeroPro6's) in the house.

I loved the eero Pro (non 6). Zero issues. Was that router developed before the Amazon acquisition? Wonder if Amazon has something to do with the Pro 6 being trash, in my experience of course.

The Rachio isn’t compatible? Like no HomeKit code or just doesn’t want to connect? I heard some bad things about it regarding HomeKit connection but still almost pulled the trigger on it. There was a great deal with on Amazon Prime Day for the Aeon Matrix Yardian Pro so I went with that but have yet to install it. That too had mixed reviews so I’ve no clue if I made the right choice or not.

To my knowledge, the original eeroPro was in production before the acquisition was announced. I don't know what may have been going on before the announcement though.

I have six of the eeroPro's in my 4700 sq.ft. home with garage detached about 50' away. The home was built in 1905-1906 with thick plaster and lath walls throughout. The walls are WiFi killers, and it is really hard to drill, pull, locate Cat6.

The Rachio3 is sold as HomeKit compatible, and the box says so. There is a HomeKit code on the device/box/instructions, so the intent is there. I've never, not once, ever gotten it to connect and according to Rachio's blog I'm nowhere near alone in that. Works well with its own app however and that's how I use it. Where HomeKit would be nice is during Spring seasonal turn-on of the irrigational system. That's where you go around readjusting head/nozzles, replacing broken heads, cracked drip lines and so on. With wet and dirty hands it would be very helpful to use Siri through Home to turn on/off zones as needed and not have to try to tap the corresponding buttons on the screen. But alas, not for me. Beyond that annoying use case, the app is fine.

I do know there are a few very lucky people for whom HomeKit and the Rachio3 work. On the Rachio3 support blog however, there are many more of us experiencing issues than those for whom it works. Next Spring, I'll probably just switch to RainMaster or other proven device with HK compatibility. It's a shame really as otherwise the Rachio3 is a pretty great controller, or at least has been for me. Not familiar with the Aeon device...hope it works well for you. I'll look into it more before buying anything else.

Ugh, terrible when a HomeKit device, or any smart home device for that matter, just doesn’t want to connect to the platform it was intended for. With some hope, maybe a firmware update to support Matter will happen in the near future and correct the issue. What’s even more mind boggling is that Apple online store sells it on the website. You would think it would be a top notch HomeKit accessory to get that honor.

As for the Yardian Pro, one of the more prominent HomeKit YouTubers (Shane Whatley- great videos if you’re not familiar) uses it and recommends it. I was going back and forth between that and Rachio but when the deal popped up on Amazon, it made the choice a little easier.

I check the website for the Yardian...apparently the larger model accommodates 12 Zones. I have a couple more zones than that so probably not a solution at this time. But thanks for mentioning.

Ah yes, that’s an issue then. Forgot about that. I have exactly 12 zones so it works out perfectly in my case.
