Question Leopard Install

I have my Retail copy of Leopard 10.5.6 that I bought like 3 or 4 years ago , I installed it with a external firewire Hard Drive back then . My question is my dvd drive does not read Dual Layer DVD's at all for some reason and my firewire drive does not work anymore and I want to do a clean install of leopard . Is there anyway to shrink a 10.5.6 dvd to fit on dvd+R ? Also what is a good cheap internal dvd drive to buy that will read dual layer disks and burn them I need something around $30 that is all I can afford right now . That is compatible with my power mac g5 dual 2ghz ? How hard is it to replace ? Thanks .

Easiest question I can recall on Mac Rumors.

I've changed out the DVD drives on Powermac G5's many times, very simple also very cheap to get new DVD Dual Layer. Just have to remember the G5 interface is IDE

Pretty much, as long as it's a desktop model. I've put in Sony Panasonic and LG's...

I seen somewhere that you have to take the faceplate off or something will it fit as is or does it require you to do some tinkering ?

What happened to your firewire drive? Did the drive die?

It just did not work as good anymore , so I got rid of it a while back .

At the very least you can use the info for the brand/model and find elsewhere for better price and/or a local store buy as opposed to waiting for shipment.

Yeah I looked there earlier at that drive but it is sold out there but thanks .
