Question mark on startup..

So I have a 07 black MacBook. I have the problem where sometime when I start up my computer and see the folder with a question mark.

I have around 1 gb of space left on my comp, which might be the problem.

My question is if I wipe my computer to sell it, will the issue be fixed??

Try these steps first:

Mac doesn't boot

Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

And if you are going to sell it, the question mark is a sign of the computer not finding the OS (regardless of how full the HDD is), but it can be caused by a bad HDD, which can be caused by a full HDD, as it is recommended to leave 10 to 20 percent of the HDD's capacity unused.

If you wipe the HDD, there is nothing to boot from, and maybe the HDD is going bad. Do you at least include the Restore DVDs in the sale?
