Question mark over the iPhoto icon on the dock

Hi guys .... I am not able to start the iPhoto app.....I'm a newbie so help....it has a shaded question mark over it.Thanks.
In the application folder there is no iPhoto icon either.

That question mark in the dock, probably indicates that your iPhoto application has been deleted.

Yes. You might need to download a free app called Pacifist to help extract it.
