Question on adding line - does it have to be iphone?

Hi.

I have an AT&T account I started, when i got my iPhone in June.

Is it possible to go onto a family account with a free AT&T phone on the second line, or at this point does it have to be another iPhone?

If it has to be another iPhone, can that indeed be done even within iTunes, when I got it? Switch to family?

I ask because I seem to remember when the phones came out some people were complaining the family plans weren't working or something.

It can be any phone you want added. An older one (used) will avoid contract extension. But any phone is fine.

I never had a problem with my family plan and singing up...
