My first month of having the 4G data plan is about to expire in a few days. When I do cancel the plan after the full 30 days, will my original AT&T SIM card in my iPad become obselete ( no good )? Or will I be able to use it again the next time I want to renew my 4G data plan?

Your sim will be fine to user again and again.

That's only a problem for people on Verizon. Your AT&T sim will continue to function in the future regardless of how you decide to end your data plan.
