I have a 2011 i7 AMD mini.
My current audio setup has the following output options:
--HDMI to my TV (not high quality)
--Optical to my (older Rotel) receiver which supports DTS, DD, 2.0 PCM (not HD audio)
--24/96 USB out to my external DAC

I don't care about multi-channel sound, only high-quality 2ch playback (or 2.1 if that matters).

***My question: Which of these is the highest quality sound output from my given setup above? Based on my ears, I'm thinking it's the DTS-MA Lossless track which plays fine. I believe when I select this option the Mini is going to convert it to a 24/96 stereo signal which outputs via my DAC to my hifi setup.

I have a full disc rip of the Nirvana Live at the Paramount BR (killer performance!)

In VLC, I see the following audio options - Audio option / what I see in Media Info
2/0 - PCM S24 LE (araw) stereo 24/48
VLC can play fine via any audio output. I am guessing this is a stereo PCM bitstream at 24/48.

Lossless - DTS Audio (dts) Lossless 6ch 24/48
VLC can play fine via any audio output. I'm guessing this is DTS lossless, which my setup is going to down-mix to stereo.

3/2+1 - DTS Audio (dts) 3/2+1 6ch 24/48
VLC can play fine via any audio output. I'm guessing this is encoded DTS which my setup is going to down-mix to stereo.

3/2+1 - (undf) 3/2+1 6ch 24/48 6912kb/s
VLC errors on playback. I'm guessing this is the DTS bitstream PCM track?? I can't play this as I don't have a DTS / HD audio capable receiver.
