I have a question on Contract extension and iPhone Data plans.

I purchased the the 16gb 3G over a year ago with a 2 year extension on one of my lines that I have on ATT family plan (let's say line #1) but I use the iphone on line #2 because at the time, line #2 could not qualify for an upgrade.
Since then ATT has been charging the data plan on line #2.
Line #1 is a non smart phone.

Now that time has passed, line #2 qualifies for an upgrade.
I want to get a 3GS for line #2 and continue to pay for the data plan but I wasn't sure if ATT would charge me 2 times since I am technically still under the 2 year extension of the first iphone extension.
Line #1 will not be the older iphone. It will be just a regular phone.

Does any know the answer to this?

They don't extent your contract by another 2 years, they just start your 2 years over. And they only charge you for ONE data plan on ONE line, they don't double it up. You can upgrade the line that is eligible, and use the iPhone on whatever line you wish. You will just be paying for the data plan on the line you have the iPhone on.
