Question on Migration through Target Disk

I just got my MacBook Pro! I am at work and was wondering if the Migration Option through FireWire that comes up upon first boot is something you have to do before booting into the OS for the first time. I wanted to play around with it more but if I want to do the migration do I have to wait until I get home before I boot up for the first time? Thanks!
