Hi All.. Quick question., When Apple updates the MBA in the near future to a new chip lets say M3 etc. Will you be able to still install Monterey on the new model? I know you can still install that on the M1 MBA .. Thanks in advance.

No, you can only install what the system ships with and newer.
Minor revision. You can only install the version when the machine initial release or newer. For example MBA M2, you can still install Monterey even though the machine now was shipped with Ventura due to the initial release of MBA M2 shipped with Monterey.

So when they revise the MBA 13 with lets say M3 I would still be able to go back to Monterey being it was released with that OSX ? Thank you

No, M3 is different machine than MBA M2. If, MBA M3 came at its launch date with Sonoma preinstalled, then all MBA M3 can be installed with minimum Sonoma. Same with MBA M2 where it came with Monterey at launch date.

I dont this thats true.. I purchased an M1 MBA a few months ago. It came with Ventura installed and I was able to go back to Monterey with no issues.
Didn't the first M1 MBA even come out with Big Sur? Then yes, off course you can install Monterey.

That's because when the M1 MBA first got released, I believe Big Sur was the OS it shipped with. The point here is that the first OS that the specific generation laptop shipped with, would be the earliest OS one can "downgrade" to.

case in point
My MacBook Air m1 2020 was installed with Monterey when I finally purchased this in Oct 2022.
 was still producing these MacBooks and installed Monterey since that was the current OS.
If Monterey worked on a Mac mini m2 I would buy one now this second.
but they are made and distributed during the Ventura era.
