I'm confused, I searched and read the threads.

What's the pros/cons for taking the SIM card out of my 2G phone and putting it in my 3Gs?

Doesn't doing that allow me to skip the whole activation step in iTunes, other than syncing my music?

All the threads I read from searching seem to not come to a conclusion....

When I went this weekend on friday they simply deactivated my old sim card. On my 2G so that sim card becomes nothing and all your syncing is done throug iTUnes pending u actually backed up all your stuff...:D

Nope, you have to activate from iTunes no matter what. There's absolutely no benefit to switching your SIM.
