I have not purchased any new OS for any of my mac machines but am looking to purchase SL for both of them. Would I be able to install SL on both of them or are there some crazy copyright rules that allow only one install? Thanks

There is the Family Pack, where you have the license to install Mac OS on up to five computers, and as far as I know, it costs 199$.

Also there is no copyright protection or serial number activation hassle on a single-PC Mac OS X Installation DVD (retail).

It has always been technically possible(if not legally or morally right) to install Mac OSX from one retail copy onto more than one machine. However, there is a very slight chance Apple may do something about this in Snow Leopard and have some form of licensing.
