Two options, I am going for optimal performance.

Option 1.
Internal SSD for boot and apps as usual. I have this now.

Option 2.
External Raid 0 SSD for boot and apps via thunderbolt. (Assuming enclosure is SATAIII)

Another question. Is there any drawback from keeping the Aperture 3 libraries I'm working on on the SSD as well? Would it be beneficial to use two partitions, one for boot and apps and one for Aperture libraries?

I have an opportunity to get my hands on a duplicate of my 256 gb Samsung SSD for dirt cheap. I'll be probably getting an iMac when 27" comes out BTO specced out, but dont want to pay for apples "fusion" drive so I am going all external thunderbolt. Also for portability so I can bring a separate external working drive home on weekends to use with MBP.

So which is faster? Option 1 or option 2?
