A day or so ago, I reported a post for being in the wrong forum and suggested where it would likely get the quickest answer. Sadly, it was transferred to a different forum and I think it's likely because a specific OS was mentioned in the original post.

I'm not angry or upset or anything like that. I was just curious on what the rubric is for transferring a topic to another forum here. Like, if it mentions a specific OS, but the reporter says it needs moved to (this is not the real one I did btw) the iMac forum.

Again, not angry, but legit curious as to what red flags prompt a move to a specific spot on the MacRumors forums.

If a question involves a specific older OS version, we'll usually move a thread to the forum for that OS version, rather than a forum about the hardware. This will almost certainly be true if the thread makes no mention of the hardware. It might also be true if there is mention of the hardware, but the OS version is more relevant.

If there's a specific reason why you think a question about an app on a specific older OS would be more likely to get an answer in a hardware forum, you can explain why in your original report. For example, if there's already a related thread in a hardware forum, and you provide a link to it, then we might merge the new thread to the existing thread.

You can always ask for an explanation of any moderation, including rejected reports, using the Contact form.

Thank you for explaining. Said post in question did not mention any kind of hardware, so I understand why it was moved to a non-hardware one now. :)

I wasn't mad about it. I just felt that forum H would give a quicker answer than forum L. Thank you again for explaining the inner workings there.
