Howdy, everyone,

I have a 2021 Apple TV 4K. I'm considering getting a Homepod Mini (or 2) to use as the TV speaker(s) for my new 4K Samsung TV.

Will the ATV Remote App from Control Centre on my iPhone/iPad control the volume on the HPM when it's being used as the TV speaker? Or will only the actual ATV remote control the volume?

Thanks.

Yes, when you’re actively in the remote app, the volume buttons on the iPhone/iPad controls the HomePods volume when they’re being used as the audio source for the ATV. There are also volume sliders throughout the iPhone/iPad UI that work.

Also, if you have an iPhone with a dynamic island, just expanding the dynamic island with the ATV controls will also allow you to use the iPhone volume buttons to control the volume of the HomePods.

This also works if you’re using AiPods as the audio source.

I have 6 ATVs and never even removed the physical remote control from the box lol. All of them have HomePods set up as default audio.
