Question re Meta Ray Bans and AW

I use my AW Ultra 2 cellular often without my iPhone and I've paired it with the Meta Ray Ban sunglasses. The two work great together with one hitch - every time I want to use them I have to manually go the watch settings > Bluetooth and then select RB Meta in order for the watch to connect to the glasses, i.e., it won't auto connect. Does anyone know any workaround for this? It's somewhat annoying and I'd really like it to auto connect.
