Hi iPhone users,

Does anyone know what is the red status bar which shows up when the screen is locked. Yesterday I came across an airline app called "CX Mobile". The status bar doesn't come up normally when using the app's normal functions, such as checking the flight schedule.

However, if I go into a special interactive mode ("meet the team", which has nice elevator music and pictures of staff that swirl around like snow flakes), then the red status bar comes up after the screen is locked. I like to leave the app running to listen to the music and always wondered what the red bar is.

I am sure it's something obvious, but I can't figure it out. I am not tethering, nor streaming anything.

Thanks!

Happened to me with Shazam Encore last night. Supposed it's just there to let you know you're using the app? I was fast-app switching and I saw it on the screen before it switched.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I suspect it may have something to do with music playing etc. Can anyone confirm? By the way, the subject app does not support multi-tasking.

You're right! The red status bar shows up when an App is using the Playback and Recording audio session category. I think it's a bit of a bug... I have a tuner out on the store, and the only method that tells you the app is going to be dismissed because of user locking the screen doesn't clear the status bar for me. But if the user presses the home button, it works fine - no red bar. Who knows :/
