Question regarding Apple Store pickup

So my local Apple Store shows 8/3 for earliest in-store pickup on base model M2. Does anyone have any experience in choosing in-store pickup and it updating to an earlier date whenever the store gets shipments in? Will they send an email offering an earlier pickup date if there’s fresh stock?

I’m looking for a base model M2 Air in space gray. So I’d imagine they’ll get these in stock pretty regularly and well before 8/3. Not sure if I should just keep stalking the app and hope it comes in stock or go ahead and order now for pickup in hopes it’ll let me pickup at earlier date.

Keep stalking the Apple Store website/app. I believe Apple updates the website every day. When I ordered my 14” MBP, there was a 1-2 month(s) lead for in-store pick up and BTO. I wasn’t in a rush to purchase so I checked the website regularly for local stock updates. A couple of days later the website updated and my local Apple Store had them in stock. This was some time after launch day back in Nov 2021.
