I have recorded a number of songs using a Mackie Firewire preamp (I highly recommend this) to GarageBand. The tracks are crystal clear in playback through speakers and/or headphones connected to my Mac with no distortion or hum from the condenser microphones.

With the files mixed and set at the proper volume levels, I have bounced them repeatedly to iTunes. In iTunes these files invariably pop the same speakers and/or headphones at lower volume levels than what I used for playback in GarageBand. I've adjusted the sound using the iTunes equalizer, but only reducing the volume considerably eliminates the distortion in the speakers/headphones. The final product is something that requires much higher volume settings to hear the song once burned to CD or uploaded to myspace. Anyone have any suggestions for proper volume setting transfer from GarageBand to iTunes?

Thanks in advance.
