Does iTunes keep any records of the serial numbers of iPhones that have been synced with that computer? If so, how do I access that information?

This is a time sensitive matter.

OK, does apple keep any records of the serial numbers of the phones they give out as warranty replacements?

My phone got stolen last thursday, and I got a new one (or refurb) under warranty last tuesday (2 days before the theft). I may have found the thief on craigslist and I need to verify that it's mine.

I think tiny umbrella might, did you do that? I know the IMEI is in there at any rate.

When iPhone is not connected

Open iTunes and mouse over a device backup:
Open Preferences in iTunes. (In Mac OS X, choose iTunes > Preferences. In Windows, choose Edit > Preferences.)
Click the Devices tab.
Position the mouse over a backup to display the phone number, serial number, and IMEI or MEID of the backed-up iPhone.
You can also hold down the Control key and choose Help > About iTunes (Windows) or iTunes > About iTunes (Mac).
Release the Control key.
As the iTunes and QuickTime version information scrolls, you will see the last connected iPhone's serial number and IMEI or MEID:
