Hey, so I just purchased a 2017 MacBook Pro 13" model (8 gb ram, 256gb HD) from Best Buy and I did the coconut battery trick to see when it was assembled - date shows 8/20/2018 as the manufacture date.

Does this mean that my Butterfly Keyboard (version 2) will not need to be replaced at some point, being that it was manufactured so recently? Or are people still having issues with the keyboard on more recently manufactured 2017 edition MacBook Pros?

Are there any other bugs or defects I should look out for? See screenshot for details...

It's the same keyboard as one manufactured earlier.

This is because the non-Touch Bar MacBook Pro still uses the second generation keyboard, even ones manufactured today. These keyboards do not have the silicone membrane that appears to improve reliability.

When Apple repairs issues with these keyboards, they are still replacing them with the same type, with the same vulnerability. So there has not been a design revision.

The only Macs that use the third generation keyboard are the 2018 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and the 2018 MacBook Air.
