I need a good microphone to do voiceover work for but am wondering about compatibility. My 2011 Macbook Pro seems to only have an audio out port, so the microphone would need to be USB, correct?

Will any advertised "USB Microphone" work with OSX? I'm trying to find one in the $50-100 range and as I understand a condenser microphone would be best. Does anyone have any suggestions for specific microphones or just general recommendations?

The 'headphone out' port on macbook pros that only have one port is also a line in port for microphones. It is an in/out port, otherwise the larger notebooks have two separate ports.

I don't know much about what microphones are good, but I just wanted you to know you have the option of that port and not just usb.

I'd go with the USB mics. While you can use the line-in the USB ones are just more versatile, and leave that port open for output.

I agree; check out the Blue Microphone line of mics. Good value.
