Hi all,

I have a question that I hope someone can answer.

When I receive my iPhone 6 on Friday, I'm planning to NOT restore from my iCloud back up and start fresh.

Now there's a few things I still DEFINITELY need though.
- Phone Numbers (Think they are stored on SIM?)
- Photos (Already transferred to iMac so can be put on new phone)
- Calendar Events (Synced with iMac but not sure how to put on new phone)
- Reminders & Notes (Can manually copy so no issue with this)

My main concern is the calendar events.
Now, because I'm signed in to iCloud on my iMac, my calendar events on my iPhone are already displayed on the Mac too.

So how do I go about getting them all on the new phone without doing it manually, or is that the only way? Will my iCloud account (Once signed in on new phone) automatically add them on for me?

Thanks in advance for any help and information.

I believe even tho you are not doing a restore, when you sign into your iCloud account it will sync certain items such as contacts, notes and so on...

Nothing wrong allowing the cloud to do your restore.

I prefer in doing a complete backup on iTunes and then using it for repopulating the data to my new phone. It is faster and complete. You can also select what you want to restore but I got to much on my phone to use the cloud for this purpose.

Ah that's perfect!
Thanks for that.

Well I'll double check just to make sure that is the case before selling my 5S.

Restoring from iCloud backup is different than syncing with your iCloud account. If you log in on your phone with your iCloud account, you select to sync your calendar and contacts automagically. No "restore" or "backup" required.

I'd just save the photos to your computer and you might need to manually move them to the new phone if the Photostream doesn't update.
