Question regarding sleep mode and horizontal rgb lines

I'm probably just being anal about this, but I noticed that when I double click the sleep button while the iPad is already awake (I don't normally press it twice, but I happened to do it this time and noticed the problem) I see horizontal red, green, and blue horizontal lines on the screen. I just picked up the iPad a couple days ago and don't really want to return it, but if this is a sign of something to come in the future I wouldn't mind doing it.

Any ideas?
